Pam Bono WIP and RIP, and more random thoughts

The current WIP is a quilt designed by Pam Bono.  There is enough stitch-in-the-ditch on here to sink a battleship.  The RIP part, in case you haven't heard, is that this week Pam was the victim of a murder/suicide.  Her husband shot both her and the family dog, and then shot himself.  All dead.  What a horrible circumstance.

Decorating 101.  Apparently DH knows more about accessorizing the dining room than I do.  I must get out more.

Love of Wildlife 101.  Sometimes, like once or twice a year, I really hate the birds.

More random thoughts:

• On a nice cool, rainy, fall day, the dog you love so much will decide to find the flower bed with the nicest, blackest, soil.  Then she'll dig to China.  Which apparently requires all four paws.  And her nose.
• I really hate it when DH says:  "Sure I'll (insert some minor chore).... tomorrow".  Tomorrow never comes.
• I really love it when the flies are stupid enough to fly into the vacuum cleaner head.
• If my niece had told me she was flying to Calgary today I could have saved the $28 it cost me to ship my brother's birthday present.  That money would have been better spent on vodka.

Sampler Quilt and Red Hat Breakfast

I love sampler quilts.  What a great setting with the background stars.

This was quilted with s.i.d. around all the blocks, but not inside the blocks.

Inside the blocks I dropped a motif.  These small blocks were done with a simple motif.

The large blocks got a more complicated design that filled the available space.

Oooh... pretty!!!

Red Hat Pajama Breakfast has been happening yearly, I think we're at year four now.  It's always early December.  An excuse to drink Baileys with our coffee.  :-)  It's a goofy event but one we all look forward to.

We look so darned cute, don't we?  In the pics below I managed to block out the large purple stain on the tablecloth from the spilled fruit smoothie.  That was the only accident.  And thank you OxyClean - all evidence is  now gone.
This was pot luck, although all Sadie (the dog) brought was entertainment & slurpy kisses.
The menu:  Fruit smoothies, potato casserole, quiche, sausages, oatmeal, waffles with whipped cream & fruit compote, assorted tarts (raisin, pecan, cranberry), coffee/tea/Baileys.  The little elves even washed up all the dishes.

I love coming downstairs in the morning and walking past Floyd.  (In case you did not know, Floyd is the quilting machine.)

The windows in my room face south so I have a great view of yesterday's work.  This quilt is so lovely - all pastels with GINGHAM (one of my favorites).  It has some really noticeable staining from a wood shelf it was living on for several years, so I hope that will come out with a good wash in Oxyclean.

If you have any sure-fire tips for removing these stains please let me know.
