Quilts of Valor - a Challenge and a Feather Border

On Saturday I was checking out Kimmy Brunner's blog. Kimmy is a longarm quilter I took a class from a few years ago. As was her intention, Kimmy SHAMED me. Man, I hate it when that happens. Here is a link to her blog post.

Unbeknownst to my guild we will be making a Quilt of Valor for the Canadian branch of the organization. It took me a couple hours Saturday evening to write up the pattern instructions, based on the quilt designed by Alycia. It took me about an hour Sunday morning to cut the fabrics. All of the fabrics came from my stash and you (seriously) cannot even tell I removed anything. What does that say about my stash? Bad Helen, bad! And, unbeknownst to the guilds in the surrounding communities, I will be challenging THEM to contribute quilts, too. he, he, he. Now my challenge will be learning how to make PDF files. oooh - head hurts

Since my intention with this blog was to show some quilting work, here is the quilt I am working on now - starting with the feathered border. I mark the basic curves with tailor's chalk. It brushes right off with one of the lint brushes for removing pesky cat hairs.

  1. I'm a lurker, but I can help 'print' your files in Adobe format if you need. Good luck with the challenge. I have a few tops here I've been meaning to send Alycia.
