Christmas VacationTo-Do List Wrapup

Chic Picnic - quilted & bound & labeled.  Many of the fabrics in this have special meaning for me, so the whole time I was hand stitching the binding I just felt... happy.
The fabrics are so busy that the time spent to custom quilt this was wasted, but since it's mine... I figure I'm worth it.

I used up some random fabrics on the back.

In keeping with the "word" theme of the quilt, I included my QUILT GIRL comic strip yardage.  (Spoiler alert:  she saved the day.)
I made two kids drag-around quilts which I'll donate to the Catholic Children's Aid.  A big pat-myself-on-the-back for the mitered striped border on the right.

It was a few years ago that a friend gave me the panel, the border print, and a half meter of the stripe.  I had the remnants of a whole bolt of the stripe in my own stash, so I used it on the back.
Sixteen placemats quilted for Meals on Wheels.

I completed eight out of fifteen items on my list, and the day is not over yet.  I've already taken Sadie for her walk (brrr - chilly wind!) and DH has supper under control, so this afternoon I will tackle the mending pile.

Stash Report & UFO Challenge

UFO Challenge for Jan/Feb - status complete! I'm up to eight blocks complete now.  I will get this bugger finished in this century.

UFO Challenge for March/Apr - these Dresden Plate blocks were brought in to the Binbrook Guild a couple of years ago.  She had lots of them in bundles of 12, so I took one bundle.  They are a little bit full in the center, so I need to...
  • Tweak the seam allowances.
  • Turn under and baste the outside edges.
  • Find a background fabric.
  • Applique these to the background.
  • Make and apply center circles.

Sassy Stars using the Quick Curve Ruler - DONE and OFF THE UFO LIST.
Another little cutie, finished and ready for donation to the Hospice.

Sassy Stars Quilt - Mine!

Are you a big fan of the Sew Kind Of Wonderful women?  Me too! The book for the Quick Curve Ruler that includes this pattern was purchased last year at MQX, and autographed.  :-)  I made this tablecloth-size, it's about 50" square.

I bought the purple fabric from a customer when I was making my great-niece's Frozen dress.  And the remainder of the stars are all made using (a very small part of) my collection of word fabrics.

I used up leftovers - I pieced the batting using a tail end off a roll of Hobbs 80/20, and I pieced the backing from a remnant of batik wide backing.
This is still on my ufo list though, until I complete the binding.  I like to attach bindings on the longarm.  My Beach Girls are coming for WINTERRUPTION in a few weeks and one of them would like a demo of how that is done.  Some day I will add that as a tutorial here on the blog, but it's easier to grasp something when you can see it up close and personal.

AROUND THE HOUSE
  • I had a GANGLIAN removed from my foot.  It didn't hurt, exactly, but it's been increasing in size for the past 18 months, and was really uncomfortable by the end of the day after being squashed in shoes for ten hours.  $120.00 later, I'm all better.  (no, foot care is NOT covered by OHIP)
  • DH is finally getting over his cold.  It started January 2nd, so we're talking FOUR WEEKS of a sick husband.  Send flowers.  For me.
  • It is so warm today, there was a bug flying around outside the kitchen window.  I take all the screens off for the winter because there are no bugs.  Hello, Universe????
